My sister begins her first year of teaching (3rd grade) and asked me if
I knew how to do the following in either Microsoft Word (for Mac) or
AppleWorks.
She wants a class roster consisting of a column of 22 student names,
and five columns to the right. At the top of those columns, she needs a
45 degree line on which she can write a heading (or subject) for that
column. So imagine: the line to the right of the names rises from the
bottom of the page and, after passing the names, shoots to the right at
an angle. So, within the box(es) created, typing can be entered. This
allows for much more information to be at the top of each column. Does
that make sense? My sister obviously got the brains of the family, but
I sure would like to help her.
Can someone help?
If this isn't the right group, please suggest another. Thanks in
advance. Mike

Sorry, Mike!! That would be Excel, not Word, that you can align cells. In
Word, it's Format-->Text Direction, but it doesn't have an "angle", only
straight vertical or horizontal. Have her use Excel, maybe?

I wish my brother Mike would take pity on me and help me occasionally. :-(

(I *am* grateful he hasn't offered me help with any work on my car. I love
him but the man is NOT a mechanic!)

That's okay Anne, I have Excel also. That tip works great! Is it
possible to make more than one line? Mike

Yeah! Wish my brother, Mike, would help me too!!
