On windows xp, First try using netsh int ip reset
resetlog.txt.

If that doesn't work, right click on your connection
inside network connections, left click on properties.
Click on the networking tab. Click install, then
protocol, then add. Click Have Disk, and point it to
C:\windows\inf (or whereever you have your windows
directory) and then click ok. Choose Internet Protocol
(Tcp/ip) and then click ok. Restart and try again.

When I try to load activesync the error message "TCP/IP

.

I have been experiencing the same problem and get that
message when I reboot. Around the time I started getting
that message, I also lost my high speed connection to the
internet (via RoadRunner). I can use dial-up and will
get a connection, but actual internet access is blocked.
I checked the system log at the time it was attempting to
access the internet and the error message goes something
like this--

"The past transparent proxy was unable to bind to the IP
address. This error may be an indicate an error with
TCP/IP networking."

I am at a loss. Any ideas. Are these messages related
(I assume so).

When this happens, does your roadrunner connection lose
sync (ie do the lights start blinking erratically?) If
so, that's an ISP problem there, adn they should be able
to help you out with it. If not, I would normally suspect
a winsock error. I've found a great utility that will
reset the tcp/ip stack and repair screwed up winsock and
lsp extensions. you can download it here:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html and
it will easily fit on a 1.44MB floppy disk. Hopefully
this helps.
Good luck!

Yes, I believe it is a winsock problem. RoadRunner
replaced the cable modem and then was able to connect my
laptop. The technician mention something about " a
socket problem". I'll try your suggestion when I get
home this evening.

Thanks.
