I'm not able to loggon to the internet with one of my machines. When I run
ipconfig, the following error message is dispalyed:

An internal error occurred: the request is not supported. Please contact
Microsoft Support Services for further help.
Additional Information: Unable to query host name.

I've tried repairing tcp/ip and winsock and nothing seems to work.

Download and execute LSPFix and see if some malware had inserted a Layered Service Provider.

Did you fix this error?
I have same problem with one windows 2003 server and one XP Pro workstations.
Both were upgraded from windows 2000. It work fine for a while.
Then I noticed that I could not install windows program in Control Panel, it
says that i need administartior right which I have.
In task manager, the networking tab says "no active network adapters found"
I re-install TCP/IP but it did not help.

Please help!

Just found a solution to the same problem, replace the tcpip.sys file found
in windows/system32/drivers with one from a working computer, or from the
windows disk, if you can extract it. Hope this helps you.
