Win xp sp1.
Dial up connection fails during 'registering your computer
on the network' phase, and after 'verifying username and
password' shows error:
Checking network protocol connections
tcp/ip cp reported error 31
a device attached to the system is not functioning.
This happened after installing a belkin wireless router.
The modem appears to connect fine until the very last
stage.
The router was not giving an ip address. After resetting
it and removing the bridge between ethernet and 1394, the
pc was getting an ip address. At that point the DUN
stopped working. I have since disconnected the router and
disabled the ethernet and 1394 connections.
Ipconfig shows nothing though I can ping localhost.
All devices in device manager are working fine and appear
properly configured.
It's a standalone. I tried uninstalling (via device
manager) and reinstalling the modems.
There are 2 v.92 modems, a pc-tel soft modem and an us
robotics modem. This happens on either modem and different
ISPs.
