Ami

Hi all,

I "played" with some device *.inf file and having now problems:

1. System very slow
2. taskmgr.exe resides in c:\i386 and not in c:\windows\system32\
3. CPU cooling fan is every-so-often starts cooling off the chip

My system:
Dell laptop Inspiron 6000, WinXP, SP2

Can anyone advice me how to speed up the system and/or how to have the
taskmgr.exe work from where it should?

Thanks for any input! -Tivoli0

Try Start, Run, type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and hit Enter.

You will need your Windows XP CD. You may encounter problems if your CD
does not
include SP2.

Read this link as it contains a way forward if you have no CD

Hope this helps.
