taskmgr.exe cpu usage very high

The taskmgr.exe cpu usage is very high and fluctuating
all the time making my computer very slow. The system sent
an error message to microsoft once and the reply was that
microsoft new about the problem and was working on it.
Maybe somebody can help me. I've checked all over the
microsoft web pages and haven't found anything to help yet.

Any Suggestions?

Task Manager uses a lot of CPU time on a few of my XP computers as well. I
wouldn't worry about it, as long as it's not noticeably slowing down your
other programs.

It is slowing the computer down tremendously. The usage
sometimes peaks to 100,and keeps going up and down even
when system is idle.
