Taskbar

How do I move the taskbar from the right side of the screen to the bottom? I
moved it inadvertently and don't know how to get it back.

Right click on the Taskbar and unlock it. Grab it in a blank area with the
cursor and drag it to the bottom. Relock it.

Thanks. Now I need to know how to resize the icons - they are way too
large.

Unlock the Taskbar. Drag it down one level. Right click on the Quick Launch,
(Icon), area. View | Large Icons. Check it, raise the Taskbar back to the
level you want and lock it.

When I right click on the Quick Launch it just says "What's This" and answere
the question but doesn't give me the option to change the setting size. -

Put the pointer right in the middle of the icons.

Bruce, It is 1:30am here and I need to go to bed. The taskbar will not go
down any further. Right clicking on Quick Launce still only give me "What's
This? There is no Icon area.

The task bar location is fine where it is but it is 1.5 inches high with
correspondingly large icons. It used to be about 1/2 inch high with smaller
icons. I hate to be such a pain but this is aggravating me no end.

I will check back with you tomorrow and hope you haven't given up on me.
Thanks,
Reiki Jan

I'm sorry. I thought you wanted larger icons. If you unlock the Taskbar and
drag it down, the icons should become smaller.

You have an unpopulated Quick launch toolbar? No matter, you apparently
aren't clicking in the right place. You need to right click on a blank
portion of the toolbar - not on an icon if they exist - and select "View"
from the pop up menu.

The "View" menu gives you two choices...Large icons, Small icons. Pick your
poison.

The size of the taskbar doesn't control the icon size on toolbars (see
above). To change the size of the taskbar, unlock it, put your cursor on
the top edge until it turns into a double arrow, left click and drag as you
wish.

Although by default the task bar appears on the bottom of the screen,
it can be on any of the sides you prefer it on. To move it from any
side to another, simply click on an unused part of it and drag it
where you want it. Be sure to click *within* it, not on the edge;
clicking on the edge and dragging will resize it, not move it.

If it won't move, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it
and uncheck "Lock the taskbar," then try again.

Thanks, I finally realized where the "view" was and it worked.

However, the toolbar is still 1" high at the bottom of the screen whereas
before it was only about 1/2 inch, which I liked much better. Any suggestions?

Thanks again - Reiki Jan

Thank you. Previous answers helped me get the taskbar down to the bottom and
the icons smaller. When the bar was on the side of the screen I was able to
resize it but at the bottom it is still 1.5" high. It used to be about 1/2
inch. I still haven't managed to get it smaller.

The task bar is resizable, like a window. Put the cursor on the edge
and make it turn into a double-headed arrow. Then click and drag it to
the size you want.

If it won't resize, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it
and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar," Then try again.

Also note that if you have toolbars on the task bar on multiple lines,
you won't be able to reduce the task bar size to fewer than that
number of lines. Put all the toolbars on one line first.

The icon size issue has been resolved. However, the double arrows do not
bring down the size of the bar. I am familiar with how to do that but in this
case, the bar disappears off the screen entirely or remains the same size. I
do unlock the toolbar before I make changes. I'm still aggravated with this.

Thanks for any further information.

Is the Taskbar double-height, or just extra large?

If extra large, increase the resolution to say, 800x600 or 1024x768.

If double-height, where there are two rows of icons, click the vertical
divider in the bottom row that is to the left of the QL bar, and drag it
to the right of the QL bar, on the top row. Release and you should have
one long divider on either side of the QL area. Now drag the Taskbar to
the preferred height, and resize the QL bar to the preferred width.

Click on the taskbar and make sure it is not locked. Click and hold on a
blank space on the bar and drag it to the bottom of your screen.
