taskbar

I have a problem. I have tried everything! But I cannot seem to move the
taskbar from the side of my desktop to the bottom. Unlocking and dragging the
arrows will not put it back. Does anyone know if this is a systemic problem
with XP or am I just missing something? Please Help! I have been trying to
fix this problem for 10 months!

By your description, I think you're resizing it.

Try:-

"To move the Taskbar, move your mouse cursor to where the time is currently
displayed on the Taskbar.
Once your mouse cursor is over the time, click and hold the mouse button
down, and while holding the mouse button down, move your cursor to the
middle edge of where you want the Taskbar to be.
To return the Taskbar back to its original position, move the cursor to the
bottom center of the screen.
When the Taskbar has moved to its new location, release the button. "

Don't forgot to relock the taskbar.

It is not a problem with XP. You're simply doing it wrong. Here's my
standard post on the subject:

Although by default the task bar appears on the bottom of the screen,
it can be on any of the sides you prefer it on. To move it from any
side to another, simply click on an unused part of it and drag it
where you want it. Be sure to click *within* it, not on the edge;
clicking on the edge and dragging will resize it.

If it won't move, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it
and uncheck "Lock the taskbar," then try again.

Well I dont know what you tried but if you have not done this try this.
Right click on Start, then properties, then on the taskbar pane. Unlock the
taskbar there and see if you can drag it and drop it where you want it. Let
me know if this helps
