I am not sure which newsgroup to post this to, but here
goes.
Does anyone know how to get the "ding" back to the
taskbar volume slider? It has become an awful "bleep"
noise (like a computer makes when it has no sound card)
and it doesn't get louder and softer as you move the
slider up and down. I can't find it in the control
panel "sounds - program events".
I think it happened when I downloaded and installed 3ivx,
which I then uninstalled because it didn't work. I would
appreciate any help anyone could give (I am not terribly
computer literate)
Thanks

Don't know if this refers to your situation, but
Kelly has a fix at line 6, right "fix the ding.wav file"
