I cannot get the start button and task bar to display on one of the accounts.
I have gone to the Appearances and Themes under the Control Panel. When I
click on the Taskbar and Menu button, nothing happens.

In mean time, the task bar does not display. I have also tried to click and
drag it from the bottom in hopes that it is hidden there, nothing happens
then either.

HELP.

It should appear if you press the Windows key (bottom left of the
keyboard, between the ctrl and alt keys).

Hi Steve,

funnily enough - exactly the same thing happened to me a few hours before
you submitted your message!

When I hit the Window key the Stat menu appears at the top left of the
screen - there is NO Task bar - I have tried dragging (I have two screens,
turned on the secondary and everything) but the bar is completely missing.

I am fairly familiar with Windows and have tried all the usual things I can
think of - and I have tried a couple of System Restores but with no luck.
All of my updates are up to date and I have NIS2006 running.

The machine appears to be running perfectly apart from this - and I am able
to Alt-Tab between programs... but this is a real pain. And more than
anything else - I miss the clock!

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance.

I have been tearing my hair out trying to get to the bottom of this - but
have got nowhere!

Some further info though...
- my other accounts on the same machine appear to be fine with the Start bar
/ task bar in the normal place.
- any dialog boxes (like Norton something or other, Windows messages, or
gmails message alert) all appear in the usual lower right hand corner.
- I have expanded the resolution to the max the card will take and panned
around the screen to check for the bar anywhere, but with no luck.
- system restore will not restore anything giving the message that 'no
changes have been made' to the computer - which is not the case.

Hope this helps someone somewhere.
