Taskbar and start menu missing

Hi, I have a pc running win xp and 2 days ago the taskbar and start menu are
missing. I've made sure auto hide wasn't on, and tried dragging it up and so
on but nothing seems to work. It acts like it's real small. Like it's there,
but real small. When I minimize something you can't go and re-open it either
and where the start menu button would be seems to be blank also.

The taskbar is also not locked. I read some help files which mentioned an
issue like this but those issues had the task bar appearing in safe mode.
This case is the same if I'm in safe mode or not. Either way it will not
work.

Does anyone have any solutions please?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

It seems that your profile is corrupted. I would suggest you to create a new
user and then check the issue.

Thank you. How can I create a new user though? I have no access to the
control panel or anything that I can figure as I can't access the start
button.

3. Click New Task on the Applications Tab
4. Type : nusrmgr.cpl

Thanks, that got me to a user accounts screen. It's blank though. It has a
hom icon and forward and back. None of those do anything. Did I misunderstand
something?
