Taskbar Screw Up

I used to be able to switch between active windows by clicking on an
icon for the window in my taskbar. Now I don't see the icons. For
some reason I see, instead, loads of quick start icons for programs
like itunes, windows media player, etc.. I don't have any idea how
this happened. (Honest!!) How do I revert to the previous taskbar?

Thank you Rick. I used the script, xp_taskbar_desktop_fixall.vbs,
for which that URL gives the link, and now my taskbar functions as
before.
