Taskbar Problems

Skip G.

I was attempting to change the view of my taskbar to add
more shortcuts to my Quicklauch toolbar.
I right-clicked the taskbar, and using the toolbar
functions, attempted to add the quicklauch and desktop
tool bars. I then tried to re-size the toolbars by
sliding the dividers back and forth
to maximize the space available to show open & minimized
programs. I then noticed that the
active windows were no longer showing on the taskbar. I
have several icons in my "Quick Launch"
toolbar and I can no longer slide that toolbar to the
left and hide particular Icons. It's all or nothing.
When I removed the "quicklaunch" toolbar, the whole
taskbar dissappeared and became irretrievable. I was
able to access the taskbar properties through the control
Panel and re-add the quicklaunch toolbar so
I could access the taskbar again. I have tried re-
booting, but no luck. I've tried adding, removing, and
moving different toolbars around the task bar, but the
task bar will only appear when I have at least one
toolbar checked (Address, Links, Language Bar, Desktop,
quicklaunch). If no toolbars are checked, the whole
taskbar still dissappears, and I cannot view my power
status, start-up programs, system clock, startmenu, etc.
I tried removing all the icons from the Quick-launch
toolbar, in case it was just over-loaded and that was
causing problems... I also removed the power
status symbol, but still no luck. Like I said, If I
remove the Quicklaunch toolbar, the whole taskbar will
dissappear (the same goes for any other toolbar).

Right now I'm looking at my start menu button, the empty
quick-launch toolbar space, and my start-up programs and
system clock. I cannot see any active window buttons.

How can I fix this, so the taskbar will behave properly
again, and so I can see the windows that are open, or
minimized, as well as my special toolbars (desktop,
quicklaunch)?

I really don't think I did anything peculiar to cause
this to happen. Any advice?

This really isn't like me.. I usually have no problems
with simple windows tasks like these.

Thanks for your help.

.
Right click the star menu, then click properties, you
will see start menu and taskbar.
Try also system recovery, right before this happened.
