taskbar problems

I am using windows xp prof, when I logged on this morning
my taskbar loaded on the side of my screen instead of the
bottom. My start is now at the top of my screen, and my
date and time are now on the left instead of the right
and taskbar has maximized itself. I have tried to drag it
down to the bottom of the screen, but it will not move.
If you know how I can fix this please let me know
 
Right-click the taskbar and uncheck "Lock the taskbar". Now, try to drag it
to the bottom. do not drag it by clicking the taskbar edges (when the
double-headed arrow appears). Click on the middle empty area on the taskbar
and drag it towards the bottom
