Taskbar - problems - new separator lines

A

Avi

The taskbar has suddenly come up with lots of "separator" lines and
there is hardly any space now to show me what windows are open. How do
I get rid of these separator lines and why did they appear?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

Right click the taskbar, you likely do not have "lock the taskbar" checked.
If there are a lot of separators, then you may have multiple toolbars open.

Thanks Rick - but how do you close multiple toolbars? I have locked and
unlocked the taskbar but it doesn't get me back to how the taskbar
appeared previously.

Hi,

With it unlocked, grab (left click and drag) near a divider and drop it on
the desktop, then close the toolbar.

Thanks Rick. It worked, although between getting rid of each separator
I had to re-boot (otherwise the separators came back). It seems that I
had 9 language bars open!
Now all is well. Again, many thanks.
