Hi

I am using xp pro which i have set to use windows classic theme.
This has been running fine for about a year now, but now, everytime I shut
down my pc I get an error beep and then when i restart the taskbar and open
windows have reverted to xp's theme. then if i shutdown again i don't get an
error beep and the taskbar and open windows theme is back to windows classic
again.
This is really frustrating me, as adaware can find no spyware, and i have no
virus's either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, i have sp2 installed and i always keep xp up to date through windows
update.

See that Themes service is set to automatic and that it is running.

Start > Run > enter "services.msc" (no quotes) and click ok.

Locate Themes and double click if you need to change.

Hi

Yes, it is started and set to automatic.
I just have no idea what is causing this, smells like virus to me but
pccillin say's i'm clean.

To see if it's a universal problem you might create another user account,
change the theme and see if the same problem occurs. Also, if you have any
theme programs like "Plus! Themes" or "WindowBlinds" disable them from the
startup menu.
