Taskbar Problem(s)...

On a computer with WinXPSP2, the taskbar has developed a problem I
haven't been able to solve. It will not adjust (using the double-headed
arrow) to a single height - either none or 3 or more. Obviously the
taskbar isn't locked, so the easy answer isn't THE answer. Also cannot
hide the infrequently-used icons (by stacking them up over the ">>").

TIA,
Fred

Switched off the QuickLaunch bar and tried ?

Nope, I sure hadn't. Did so, and, sure enough, taskbar is adjustable to
any desired height. But...sure would like to have the Quick Launch
toolbar...

My own computer (also with WinXPSP2) is able to do both, why can't my
wife's have them both, also?! (Actually, it did, until recently).

What happens is that the end "margin" of the QuickLaunch toolbar has
gotten so far over to the right that it is now down below. Unlock the
Taskbar and then "grab" the dotted line on the bottom bar and drag it
up to immediately to the right of the QuickLaunch icons. Now you've
successfully made the QuickLaunch toolbar shorter and can "grab" the
top bar of the Taskbar and "push" it down to the regular one-tier
height.

ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY CORRECT! My wife thanks you and I thank you -
and I promptly locked the taskbar once it was back to normal!

Thank you, thank you!

You're very welcome, Fred. It *is* an annoying problem and not readily
apparent. Thanks for taking the time to let me know all is now well.
