taskbar on startup

hello it`s me again the novice
On the taskbar i have hidden the icons i don`t wish to show and saved the
settings.
it remains that way until close down, but when i start pc again the icons
are back showing on taskbar again. why is this and can it be stopped?

Simon, Right click on an unused space on the Taskbar. Click on properties.
On the bottom left corner, click on hide inactive icons.

Thanks fo the suggestion but i have tried that and the box is already ticked.
i have used the custom button to hide the icons i wish to be allways hiddenas
well bue as isaid when i turn pc on again the are all back.

i am running windows xp service pack 2
