Taskbar issues... no one can help?

!Please read message entirely before replying. Thanks so much for your time!
Under the "Notification Area" of the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties"
window, I am unable to check the boxes for my volume icon, network icon, and
my power meter icon. These icons just randomly dissappeared when I booted up
my computer recently. I have tried rebooting many times, and turning off UAC.
When I turned off UAC, I got my battery meter back for that specific time
that I was on my computer. I had gotten my network icon back for a period of
time but it was gone the next time I booted. I have heard that this may be
caused by explorer crashing. I do not believe that my explorer has crashed
since I have had SP1. Last time a MVP replied to my post, telling me to
restart Explorer in a special way which works untill I restart my computer or
come out of standby, then they dissapear so I have to restart Explorer each
time. I have also had some issues with my Z-order on my taskbar. It just will
not stay on top of other Windows even though it is set to. Please help me. I
am going to college on Monday, and I need these issues repaired before I
leave. THANK YOU in advance for any help anyone is
willing to give.

I hate reposting, but no one will help me. Does Vista have problems without
solutions? I have constantly been supporting Vista dispite much criticism
from friends. I am starting to think that my friends are right. I have
repeatedly posted this message and people have only given me temporary help.
If my small problems cannot be solved what is going on with the bigger
problems that people are having? Did Microsoft just drop Vista and all those
that have problems, to go to a new OS. I do not want to offend anybody, but
my problems need solutions, and I have not found any, it seems like no one
has a solution, or no one cares enough to give one. I do greatly appreciate
any help cause it takes a large amount of time to write, but my problems are
costing me time (not to mention the time it takes to write about my issues).
Please, would someone just HELP ME?!?!?!

Sure download the .ISO file from this: www.ubuntu.com. Then erase your
hard disk and install it by booting from the CD your burned first. All
you need to do is follow the simple instructions. It's free and comes
with access to over 24,000 free programs and, compared to Windows, it's
bullet proof in regards to viruses and malware.

What can be done with Ubuntu?

Email
Surf the web
Burn CDs.
Rip CDs.
Listen to music.
Watch vidoes/DVDs.
Scan and print.
Spreadsheets.
Presentations
Newsgroups.
HTML editing.
Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc.
Make videos.
Download photos from a camera and organize them.
Translations.
Use a dictionary
Learn how to touch type.
Edit images.
Send and receive a fax.
Take screenshots.
Create .PDF files.
Create and use a data base.
Instant messaging with over 10 different programs in one including
Windows Live Messenger.
IRC.
Bluetooth.

and much more!
