Taskbar Icons

How can I get rid of some the icons on my taskbar? i have
tried exiting and closing them just to have to do it
again the next time I start my computer. Any Suggestions?
 
To disable startup items goto Start>.Run>>Type "msconfig" and goto the
Startup Tab.
