Taskbar for Windows XP Home Edition

My sons taskbar will not for the life of me shrink to a normal size...its
like doubled. I have tryed the click n drag/drop thing and it wont work. It
wont budge. I have checked to see if it is 'locked' and its not. Ive right
clicked, left clicked and also gone thru the options that are under Advanced.
Its still double size.
Any other suggestions would be most greatfully accepted
