Taskbar difficulties

don't know where to post this so....

my taskbar is all messed up! the applications i have
open no longer display on the taskbar (i have to use ctrl-
alt-tab to switch). the quick launch bar no takes up
half the task bar and if i remove it the taskbar
disappears completely. anybody have any ideas? i am
lost!!!
