Task scheduling problem

Gary Clark

We have computers running under Windows XP Professional
that are in constant use by multiple users during business
hours. During non-business hours they are left turned on
and booted but in a logged-off state. We want to schedule
tasks to run at night, while the computers are in a logged-
off state. We want to run virus scans unsing Norton Anti
Virus and also automatic backups hard-drive-to-hard-drive,
as the computers are all equipped with two large hard
drives.

Any of these tasks work fine if run when the person who
scheduled them is logged-on, but won't run when nobody is
logged-on. Is this a defect in Windows XP or is there some
secret to it?

Norton Antivirus has its own scheduler: log in as the admin per box and then
schedule it.

You can use the file synchronizer for that.

If the hard drives are identical, have you ever considered using raid
mirroring to protect the local data per computer?

You must tell the task to run as the admin and enter the password. However,
I have noticed this problem as well at times, even at home.
