Task manager

I noticed recently that the Task Manager shows the following process:

Image name: System
User Name: SYSTEM
CPU: 13
Mem usage 212 k

This process runs all the time, at times the CPU usage goes up to 23 or 14,
but never stops.

Would anyone know what this process does? On my other PC at work it is
there, but the CPU stands at 00.

I am not suggesting you have a virus or spyware but have you tried
running an anti-virus programme and an anti-spyware programme?

What external devices do you have plugged on the computer, it happened
recently to me, and the problem was that the all in one printer attached to
the computer never was turned off and was making the System process to stay
over 90% all the time.
