hi, im having problems with task manager on my computer.
Whats happening is that when i press ctrl+alt+del task
manager opens but closes 2 seconds later, without me even
touching it. When i first loaded XP this wasnt happening,
but a couple months in, i started noticing it. I think it
may somehow be corrupted but im not sure why. The reason
i want to get in to task manager is so that i can close
some programs so that my computer will run quicker, so if
anyone knows how close programs without opening task
manager that would be greatly appreciated

I had this problem. I did a system scan using Norton and found a spyware
type virus was living within. I got rid of it and this problem and others
went away. gl, John

Do you remember the virus? I have been through my
registry with a fine toothed comb and have found nothing,
I have scanned with Norton's in safe mode and regular
mode, I have uninstalled reinstalled and updated the
definitions, but nothing lets me run taskman. renaming
regedit.exe to regedit.com allows me to get into the
registry but that does not work on task manager.

Does anyone have any ideas?
