Task Manager won't close

When the Task Manager is called up with Cntrl-Alt-Del, it appears with the
running programs and the 'End Now' command boxes which work, but there is no
'X' in the upper right corner to close the window. Sometimes the 'X'
appears but it won't close the window when you click on it. Right clicking
on the blue bar at the top does not result in a menu of options either. The
only way to get rid of the window is to restart the computer. The computer
has been doing this for about 6 months. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Double-click the blank area just to the left of the End Task button.
That should get you out of the "Small Footprint" mode.

Is just the X missing or the entire title bar and menu bar?

If the latter, you are running in what's called "Small Footprint Mode." To
change back and forth from this mode to regular mode, just double-click on
the border.

I was indeed running in the "Small Footpribt Mode" and the double click on
the border cured it. Thanks All!!
