Task Manager Processes

When I open the Task Manager and see all thos tabs, I am
curious. The processes Tab lists a zillion items that are
all forgein to me. What are they?

They are programs running on your computer. Some are needed by Windows;
there are also things like virus scanners and helper apps that do nothing
but make other applications open faster. For a better definition, do a
search on Whatis.com.
