I made the subject inviting in the hopes that there is SOMEONE out there with
a (I have to say it~ ) Dell computer that has way too many processes running.
I have gone through and uninstalled as many Dell-isms as possible...

One of the problems Im experiencing is the mouse cursor keeps flashing the
BUSY or IN PROGRESS cursor intermittently and only for a moment every time.
I cant find a program making it do that.

What im looking for is a website that has a thorough list of processes AND
explanations of what they are. Ive gone through as many other discussions in
this forum as i can take...

How do you know you have too many processes...especially since you don't
understand what they are in the first place?

Ok, perhaps I incorrectly worded my post:

I may NOT have too many processes, but I want to know what they are
and Please, only useful posts. Thanks

Did a Google search for {"task manager processes explained" - got 15,000,000
hits -

first several I looked at were relevant.

Try bringing up the Task Manager and clicking on the Processes tab. Click
on the CPU column header a couple times - this sorts the process list by CPU
demand, ascending or descending. Watch what goes to the top of the list.
