My system regularly has 28/30 processes running. Do you think the number of Andy's processes are a problem? I acknowledge unreservedly that you are answering his question but I would like Andy to tell us what the underlying problem is, i.e. that which prompted him to ask the question. I cannot imagine it is what his header suggests! Hopefully he may see this message and tell us.

BTW I always find your posts informative so keep up the good work.

I have 40 processes in my system and that is not at all unusual.
If one is not eXPeriencing a problem, then do not be concerned
with the number of processes in memory. They are only used when
needed.
