I am using windows XP Pro, I have had a few problems with
applications crashing etc.. When I use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to
go to Task manager so that I can end that particular task
(or Application) Task manager is "greyed out" and will
not let me select it. Can anyone help me with this? I
would appreciate a fix as I am tearing my hair out.

Thanks

Hi Ashley,

You mean the borders of Task Manager do not allow you to change tabs?
Double-click on the edge to return to the normal view.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Look in the right pane for a value called DisableTaskMgr. If it exists, it
should be set to 0 (zero). If not, double click it and set it to 0. If it
doesn't exist, right click in a blank area of the right pane and select New,
DWord value. Name it DisableTaskMgr and leave it set at 0.
