Task Manager hosed?

Hi, my task manager seems to be hosed, where i used to
have several tabs across the top for viewing processes
etc, they are all gone. All I see is the window showing
the tasks running with three buttons " end task, switch
to and new task "
Have I screwed something up or is it windows?
