Task Manager Problems

Hi

Using XP SP2 Home edition.

When I press ctr-alt-del to bring up Task Manager, I get the window come up
but it is incomplete. No tabs along the top. No close bar at top left.
No cancel buttton at bottom. If I highlight a running process and then
press{EDN TASK] it takes ages and ages to complete.

If I start up in SAFE MODE the Task Manager operated correctly.

I am using hardly any resources, I have gone through the process of
searching for any viruses etc. using AVG Trend Micro AdAware SE Plus, Spybot,
CWSHREADER McAffee Stinger (all in safe mode)as I was given to understand
that I had a virus.

Nothing has show up.

The only way to get rid of it is to click on the [SWITH TASK] button which
closes the screen down but puts a small icon on the start bar at the bottom
of the screen

Has anyone got any ideas as to how I can sort this problem???

Hi

In 'normal' mode try double clicking on the edge of the Task Manager.

Hi Will

It works. Thanks a lot.

Two questions though:
1) Why did it get like it in the first place??

2) Just exactly why should clicking on the edge of the Task Manager screen
rectify the problem??

Many thanks for your help and I hope you can come back to me with the answers

Best Regards

Hi

There's not a great deal on the MS web site:

"Task Manager Menu Bar and Tabs Are Not Visible"
