Task Manager doesn't end processes properly

Hello all,

I run Win98 at work, and Ctrl-Alt-Delete brings up the Task Manager, and
"End Task" promptly shuts down whatever process I need to kill.

At home, I run WinXP home version. Ctrl-Alt-Delete brings up the Task
Manager, but "End Task" rarely shuts down the process I need to kill. My PC
Sits there with the processor at 100%, and after a while a message box
saying "Blah blah isn't responding. End now?" comes up, but that doesn't
kill the process either.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
Bernie

Can you tell us what process are you trying to end with the Task Manager?

Soo Kuan,

Most frequently, Outlook Express. Often, Photo Deluxe.

Right click the task. There are two kill options. Also some nasties are two files - they restart each other as soon one is killed. See if taskkill from Pro will work on the crippled Home.
