Task Manager Doesn't Display or Stay Open

My PC has been riddled with adware, spamware, etc..I've
used spybot, adaware and pestcontrol and that seems to
have it under control. But, when I ctrl+alt+del to see
what programs are running, the Task Manager flashes on
the screen and closes. I cannot find anything anywhere
that addresses this issue. As a result, I have processes
running that I would like to close down but cannot.
HELP.......
