Task Manager Appears, then runs away like scalded dog

Hello All,

In XP Pro, set to Use the welcome screen for fast and
easy logon, I had been able to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to pull
up Task Manager and use it to close a stuck application,
amoung other things.

However, now when I Ctrl+Alt+Del, I Task Manager briefly
opens, shows the little green thingy in the system tray,
then exits, (about 1/2 a second later).

Anyone know whats up?
