Task - Insert shortcut to folder

I would like to be able to insert into a task a shortcut to a network
folder. I have added the shortcut to the Outlook bar, but cannot find a way
to bring it derectly into the task.
If it helps clarify the question, I need to check certain network folders
from time to time. I have a recurring task set up for the purpose, and
would like to go directly from the task to the folder. I know I can insert
a shortcut to a file, but that does not help me in this case.

May I take it that this cannot be done? If anybody knows that for sure, I
would appreciate hearing about it.

Typing in the URL -- e.g. file://\\servername\sharename\ -- should work.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. In previous attempts I did not use file://,
since I was not familiar with that syntax. That could have been the
problem.
