Have you got glass on or off? Do you fully maximize your windows on the
desktop? Glass on here, pink colour scheme, my taskbar is currently a
rather nice shade of translucent purple ;-) If you turn off glass, the
taskbar retains the colour from the colour scheme.
If you maximize windows on the desktop, it does tend to make the taskbar go
back to being solid black. To get round that, just drag the edges of the
window until it fills the screen - that will keep transparency on window
borders, and preserve the colour of the taskbar.
