task bar

could anyone tell me how to make the task bar smaller at
the bottom of the screen(desktop). It somehow got to be 3
columns high and i want to get it back to a single column
high. Thanks! Randy

right click it, turn off 'lock the taskbar', and then drag the top back
down to 1 column high?

The taskbar is effectively a window, much like other windows. To
change its size, simply grab its edge (let the cursor change to a
two-headed arrow) and drag it to the size you want.

A point to watch - if you drag the hatched 'handle' to the right of the
QuickLaunch area too far to the right, it will snap down to the row
beneath , thus landing you with a bar two deep, that will not react to
dragging its edge. You have to look for that handle (it will be blow
the right of Start) and drag it up and right until beyond the
QuickLaunch icons, then adjust it left as desired
