task bar problem

when I was on the internet a company called spy axe downloaded on my computer
and kept directing me to their site and kept asking me to sign up as i had
"malware" on my computer even though my anti spy program said i did not. i
have managed to remove the program but it still has a icon on my taskbar
which keeps putting up a pop up and if i click on it it goes back to the spy
axe website and asks me to sign up. it is obviously a con as the program
would not remove by normal methods.could anyone help me with removing the
icon and therefore the pop up . it would be much appreciated.
