Task Bar not displaying windows

When I start the computer, the task bar seems to work for
5 seconds. Soon after, it stops responding - does not
even display the windows that I have open, nor can I
click on the Start Button or any other button in the
Quick Launch bar. I can access the desktop icons - that
is how I am moving around it right now, along with Alt +
Tab. Anyway, if I want to turn off the PC, I close all
windows and I've got to do Ctrl + Alt + Delete, and shut
down that way. Then, I get an message saying that
Explorer.exe had an error. I End the program and the
computer finally turns off. I thought restarting would
work, but hasnt. Help!!!! Please!!

Get an answer yet. If not, try to defrag your sytem. It
may take a while.
