After allowing someone else use of my pc the task bar has moved from the
bottom of the screen to the top, and i cannot can it back to the original
postion of the bottom of the screen. I have tried unlocking the task bar by
right clicking and then draging it but this just makes to wider any
surgestions.

You're just not "grabbing" it right. If it's resizing instead of moving
you're grabbing the edge. Point to a blank spot in the middle (single
pointer instead of a double headed arrow) and click/drag.

I have tried grabbing it in various places but not happens the only thing I
can get to to do is resize. What about a system restore would that cure the
problem?

The taskbar has to be unlocked to move it; perhaps that's the
problem? You should be able to "grab" it anywhere in any unused
area of the taskbar and drag it to the bottom of the screen.

If you have a slow machine or a zillion icons on the desktop, it
might just be slow; try dragging slowly and wait a sec to see if
it'll catch up to the cursor position.

You should also not have any windows open at the time.

Let the group know what happens.

If you are resizing the taskbar instead of dragging it, you are clicking on
its edge. You need to click *within* it to move it.

When you drag it to the bottom of the screen, you may not see anything move
unrtil it arrives at the bottom. Don't give up when you're halfway there
because nothing has happened yet.

In your original, I get the impression that you are trying to right click
and drag the Taskbar. If so; the correct method is to LEFT CLICK a vacant
spot in the middle of the bar and hold the mouse button down and drag the
bar down or to the left or right side. You can then resize to your
preference.

Hi, My Wife has just had a similar problem with a Windows XP Taskbar at work.
A colleague had managed to move the Task Bar to one side of the her screen.
Success!

I unlocked the Bar and dragged it down to the bottom of the screen. The
puzzle is that the Bar is double it's usual height. The double ended
re-sizing arrow appears but it will only increase the height not reduce it.
I've tried resizing with the Task Bar at the side of the screen - still no
effect. We also tried rebooting. Any ideas please?

Regards, David

If you have toolbars on the task bar on multiple lines, you won't be able to
reduce the task bar size to fewer than that number of lines. Put all the
toolbars on one line first.
