Task Bar is Missing?

I'm having an interesting problem...
I have laptops running Windows XP Pro on a Windows Server 2003 network.
People are comming in saying that their "task bar is missing." Funny as it
sounds, it really is gone. It's deffinately user based, so our current fix
has been to make their profile files local, delete the server copy (make a
fresh profile) and then copy the files back. I can't find a common thread
between them, and google hasn't been much help. Has anyone seen this problem
before or have any ideas? I would like a way to fix it for good and an easier
way to fix the taskbar being gone (not minimized or hidden, totally gone)...
ideas?

Thanks.

Actually, I was just there and I think we've tried that before without luck,
though I will try it again. Any idea as to what might be causing the problem?
I'd like to know if its on the client side or server side...
