We are trying to create a Windows XP Embedded image for a Kiosk machine. We have installed the following :
1) Windows XP Embedded Tools
2) MSDE
3) Component Database
Problem faced :
When we open the target designer it gives the following error:
"cannot log on to component database at <machine name>. Possible reasons could be that the database could be opened by some other application in exclusive mode"
But actually, this is a fresh PC and there are no other applications running. We are unable to find out the reasons for this.
About three out of four times, the target designer opens, and fourth time it displays the error and we end up re-installing everything again.
We would be really thankful for any clue or help as it will save us a lot of time and effort.
