OK. I dropped my case a short distance. There was a USB lead in the back panel which twisted the USB port on impact. My computer aint worked since. Would a damaged USB socket stop power going through my mobo?Tthe Mobo "power on" LED aint on when I plug everything in. Does everything have to be 100% ok for the mobo to work? Seeing as USB, 1394 etc aint essential for a mobo, I dont see why they HAVE to be there.

any help welcome. Or do I have to go buy a new board?:(

Sad to say, it looks as though your motherboard's knackered :(

Modern boards have multi track layers 'sandwiched' in between top and bottom, often the PCB tracks visible are not the only ones present, others are inside the board and hidden.

It sounds as if where your USB socket has twisted, it's likely severed an internal power rail. Which, sadly, is beyond repair.
