Taking an Image in XP

hi
I have a windows xp and i have installed all the necessary softwares i
normally use and the systems works perfect now.can i make an image of this
existing system,so that i can install it on another system(my desktop) or to
keep as a backup for my laptop (i have a basic xp plus other tools like
fotoshop,office ,messenger software,musicmatch etc)cause i dont want to
repeat the installations when i format my drive or sumthing,

My 2 cents, you can use Norton Ghost to burn an exact image into a CD or
DVD.
In case of any unforseen problems where you need to format your system, you
just have to copy the image back.

Hi,

You can, but you need a program to do this. There are many of them
available, you just need to choose which one you want to pay for.

If you install in on another PC, you will have to re-activate it with,
it's product key, and re-install system drivders, as well as the
license keys for the software on that PC.

In addition to the other replies...

Read the documentation for your imaging software carefully, and I believe
that you will find that the image will not be valid for a system other
than the one from which the image was made. Different hardware, different
configuration.
