Takes 2 to 3 tries to start windows

Recently when I first turn my computer on windows does
not start. I end up with a black screen with a bunch of
squigly lines. I then have to turn the computer off and
turn it back on. I then get the screen that says "windows
did not start properly if you don't know what caused this
select start windows normally" or I have the choice to
start in safe mode but since I do not know what caused it
I select start windows normally. Usally it will then
start up or go back to the black screen again. It now
does this everytime I turn the computer on. I have
recently upgraded my video card to a nvidia Geforce FX
5900 ultra. But the problem started well after that.

You are having a hardware problem. Perhaps your power supply can't
provide enough juice for the new video card. Is this one of the Nvidias
that needs an additional power connection? What are your system specs
(hardware, not software)?
