Tabs on Left - turn off?

Is there anyway to get rid of the tabs on the left in 6.1 XP Messenger?
I was able to turn them off in windows messenger 5.0

Yes you can, open up the main Messenger window, click the Tools menu, then choose the Privacy
tab, select 'This is a shared computer, so don't display my tabs' and click OK.
