Tablet PC

I opened Tablet PC Input Panel and have a question since I don't have a
Table PC. I was wondering if this is in Vista for those that have a Tablet
PC and run Vista.

Must you have a Table PC to use this?

Or, can you use it with a Desktop PC too?

If so, where and what kind of a pen do we need?

Thanks and sorry to appear so dumb on this matter but really don't know and
would like to know more about it. The help with it don't explain this. I
played with it using my mouse to write and am amazed it how accurately it
converted to text. I can imagine how great it would be using a pen.

You can buy a Wacom graphic/drawing Tablet and plug that into your computer,
and that will enable the Tablet PC functionality.

Tablet PCs themselves essentially have one of these positioned behind their
screens.

When you're using a pen it is phenomenal at handwriting recognition, much
improved over Windows XP Tablet as now it learns your style of writing.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I was trying to find out. Will check out
Wacom Tablets.

Thanks again,
Ed.

Yes, you need a tablet PC to use it.

Yes, you need a tablet PC to use it.

No, you don't need a Tablet PC to use the Tablet PC features in Vista.
All you need is a pen-based input device, like a drawing tablet.

My brother, who runs Vista Home Premium on his desktop PC, discovered
this when he installed his Wacom Graphire 3 USB drawing tablet. Vista
detected the tablet and automatically enabled the Pen Options settings,
the Tablet PC Input Panel, and navigational flicks. He even demonstrated
the input panel and nav flicks for me when I last visited him.

I also have a Graphire 3, but I've yet to hook it up to my Vista Ultimate
PC. His demonstration gave me something to look forward to when I do get
around to installing it.

I see what you are saying. I guess my point was more that by installing
Vista with tablet features might allow you to realize some of the tablet
functions, but it doesn't turn your desktop machine into a tablet (like
giving your plain monitor touchscreen capabilities with a pen.) Good to
know though.
