tablet pc admin password

i do not know what happened to my computer access. for 2 years i have been
able to log on w/o a admin password and suddenly my laptop is requesting one.
averatec and microsoft can not help w/o a fee, and i do not want to use my
recovery disk and lose all my info. can any one help me bypass or reset this
admin password w/o losing my currect files and programs?

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and use Start > Run > "control userpasswords2" to
modify the desired account(s). By design, the only way to log into the
Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot into Safe Mode. For
WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen will
produce the standard login dialog box.

this is the same response microsoft gain me and i followed it to the letter
and still am able to access. once i'm in safe mode the computer displays a
page of disk info and then asks for the admin password. i am unable to get
to the start and run programs. how do you log in using the bulit in admin
password?

1) Type "administrator" (without the quoter marks) in the username field.

2) Type the password in the password field. (If there is no password,
leave it blank.)

3) Press <Enter>.

thank you for your responses, but i do not know the password and blank does
not work. i'll try to goggle a password i guess.
