Is it possible to have a multiple line heading style appear in the table of
contents as one line? This is actually a caption with the table or figure
number and the description under it (they don't want it on the same line in
the document). Thus far I have just modified it in the table of contents, but
every time you update it, you have to edit it. I didn't know if there was any
way possible to modify it in the table of content options. Thanks!

Thanks so much! I thought it would be something simple. I previous tried
using ctrl+enter within the caption label and then treid the shift+enter too,
but it still showed on two lines in the TOC. However, when I left it on one
line in the label and then pressed shift enter within the document, then it
did update to one line! Yay! Thanks again.

Yes, you will have to press Shift+Enter within the heading in the document
body; you can't add the line break character to the field code.

Oops, I sent the message before it was finished (or before I was finished
thinking about it)... :-(

I meant to write that you cannot insert a line break within a number (if
this is autonumbering rather than numbering added via the Caption dialog
box).

Also, don't forget to update the TOC when making changes to the text.
